Our group is based in Graiguemanamagh Co. Kilkenny, Ireland and was first formed in 1977. We have our weekly meeting in the Scout Hall every Monday night from 7.30 to 8.45. In total we have about 25 scouts who range from 11-16 years old. We are based in the Ormonde district which is made up of groups from both Carlow and Kilkenny.
Our group is made up of Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts.
Our weekly meeting a are usually made up of team games and activities. We also learn important skills which are needed to take part in such events as The Smythe Cup and The Sionnach. Our three patrols are not peer-based and this helps the younger scouts to learn from the older scouts. However, this does not mean that the older scouts are the best. we have seen this as one of our younger patrols, The Funky Wombats, came 2nd in the Smythe Cup (the national camping finals) in 2002.
